Hanks was reunited with Ron Howard in his next role, as commander and astronaut Jim Lovell in Apollo 13 (1995). The film was widely lauded by critics, in addition to the performance of the whole cast (which comprised Kevin Bacon and Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise and Ed Harris) and Kathleen Quinlan. The film was nominated for nine Academy Award nominations and won two. Hanks was the voice of Sheriff Woody in Disney/Pixar's 1995 computer-animated feature Toy Story (1995). A year later, Hanks made his directorial debut in the musical comedy That Thing You Do! (1996) that chronicles the rise and decline of a pop group from the 1960s and also a part of a music producer. Time magazine's Richard Schickel described his performance as "charming" and the majority of people who reviewed the film agreed that Hanksacting performance has earned him a place among the top romantic comedy actors of his time.
